Colman Domingo is addressing a recent misunderstanding involving Paris Jackson and the upcoming Michael biopic about her father, Michael Jackson.
The conversation began last year after Domingo, who portrays family patriarch Joe Jackson in the film, suggested in an interview that Jackson and her brother Prince were supportive of the project. Shortly after the comments circulated, Paris Jackson took to Instagram to clarify that she had no involvement with the production.
“Don’t be telling people I was ‘helpful’ on the set of a movie I had 0% involvement in,” she wrote on her Instagram Story at the time. “That is so weird.”
Jackson added that she had read an early version of the script and offered feedback, but ultimately stepped away when certain concerns were not addressed.
“I read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my notes about what was dishonest and didn’t sit right with me,” she wrote. “When they didn’t address it I moved on with my life.”
Now Domingo says the situation came down to confusion about his earlier remarks. In a recent interview, the Oscar-nominated actor said he reached out privately to Jackson after the exchange.
“I hope that she eventually loves the tribute that we made about her father,” Domingo said.
