Afroman is celebrating a courtroom victory after a jury ruled in his favor in a civil case involving several Ohio sheriff’s deputies.

The lawsuit stemmed from a 2022 raid at the rapper’s home in Adams County, where officers executed a search warrant tied to allegations of drugs and kidnapping. No charges were ultimately filed against him, but the situation later led to a legal dispute.

Seven deputies sued Afroman, claiming he damaged their reputations by featuring them in music videos that included footage from his home security cameras. The videos, including one for “Lemon Pound Cake,” gained widespread attention online.

A jury found that Afroman did not defame the officers, clearing him of the claims, despite several officers reportedly breaking down in tears.

Speaking after the verdict, the artist reflected on the outcome.

“I didn’t win,” he said. “America won. America still has freedom of speech.”

Afroman has maintained throughout the case that the footage was his property and that he had the right to use it creatively. He also argued that the entire situation began with a search he believes should not have happened.

“The whole raid was a mistake,” he said during the proceedings.

Following the decision, Afroman said he plans to continue living in the community where the case unfolded.
