Sherri Shepherd spoke directly to viewers after learning that her daytime talk show would not return for another season.
Opening Monday’s episode of Sherri, Shepherd acknowledged the news with honesty and humor. “This is a hard morning for all of us here at Sherri, and I know that you have seen the news,” she told the audience. “Our show has not been renewed for another season. Try not to faint or fall out, because health care is expensive and none of us have it anymore.”
Despite the disappointment, Shepherd said she felt deeply supported. “I’m truly overwhelmed by the outpouring of love,” she said, thanking fans in the audience, online, and even strangers who stopped her while she was out running errands. “I feel every bit of the love that you’ve been sending to me.”
Shepherd reflected on the heart of the show and what it meant to her. “The show was built on joy,” she said. “My prayer was always for you to leave happier than when you came. It has been my dream to have a talk show, and I’m grateful I got four seasons.”
The host confirmed that original episodes would continue through the fall and hinted at future possibilities. “I’m not ready to throw in the towel,” Shepherd said. “If anybody knows me, they know I’m a fighter. I promise I will continue to spread joy.”
