Jamie Foxx is weighing in after a shocking moment at the 2026 BAFTA Awards sparked widespread backlash.
The actor reacted on Instagram after Tourette’s activist John Davidson yelled a racial slur while Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo were onstage presenting the award for best visual effects. Foxx did not mince words.
“Nah he meant that s–-t,” Foxx wrote in a comment on a viral clip. “Out of all the words, you could’ve said Tourette’s makes you say that? Unacceptable.”
The moment aired live on BBC One and was not removed from the broadcast. Host Alan Cumming later addressed the audience, explaining that Tourette’s syndrome can involve involuntary verbal tics and asking for understanding.
The BBC also issued an apology, saying the language was offensive and deeply regrettable.
Still, the incident left many viewers and industry figures unsettled. Jordan and Lindo continued presenting without reacting onstage, but Lindo did state that he wished somebody from the BAFTA team had checked in with them after the incident. Other artists later spoke out, saying the impact of hearing the slur should not be minimized.
Delroy Lindo says him and Michael B. Jordan did “what we had to do” to continue presenting at the BAFTAs after John Davidson shouted the N-word in an involuntary tic.
He said he wishes “someone from BAFTA spoke to us afterwards.”

Davidson has since said he is “deeply mortified” by what happened.
