A resurfaced TV clip involving Kathy Hilton is sparking new conversation, thanks to a candid reaction from Gabourey Sidibe.
The moment dates back to a 2022 appearance Hilton made on Watch What Happens Live!, where she was asked to identify celebrities based on photos. When a picture of Lizzo appeared on screen, Hilton hesitated before blurting out, “Precious?” followed by visible discomfort in the studio. She later tried to explain the comment away, suggesting it was a nickname she used.
Years later, Sidibe addressed the clip on the One54 podcast and explained why it struck a nerve. “That was weird because I’ve been to that lady’s house,” Sidibe said, recalling a professional meeting she once had with Hilton. “I was like, ‘I know you.’”
Sidibe said the mix-up felt careless, especially given that she and Lizzo have distinct careers.
“We do different things,” she explained, adding that being confused with other plus-size Black women is something she has dealt with often. “It’s always weird, and it’s always tinged with racism.”
She also questioned why her actual name was never used. “You should know my real name,” Sidibe said.
At the time, Hilton addressed the backlash by saying she struggled to see the screen clearly and never meant to offend anyone.
