Boosie Badazz is forcefully pushing back after Louisiana officials accused him of exploiting a tragedy tied to a Southern University student.
The rapper, whose real name is Torrence Hatch, is facing scrutiny from Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill over a memorial scholarship announced in honor of Caleb Wilson, a 20-year-old student who died in February 2025 following an off-campus hazing incident involving members of Omega Psi Phi. Boosie announced the scholarship while promoting his Boosie Bash event, which raised questions from state officials about consent and intent.

Murrill has reportedly issued a civil investigative demand seeking information on how Wilson’s name and image were used. Officials have suggested the fund may have improperly supported a for profit event.
Boosie took to X over the weekend to deny the claims, writing, “I let this lady get the best of me with this bullshit ass lawsuit and got me sick. S–t just wrong and evil she’s doing.” He added that he had checked himself out of the hospital and planned to fight back legally.

The rapper has maintained he was asked to help create the scholarship and insists his intentions were genuine. “For y’all to say y’all taking legal action against someone who trying to help is a slap in my face,” he previously wrote.
