Students drown in boat accident
No fewer than two students from Audu Bako College of Agriculture in Makoda drowned on Wednesday while attempting to cross the Thomas Dam in Kano State by boat.
Saminu Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer for the Kano State Fire Service, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Wednesday.
He named the victims as Abubakar Sanusi (22), and Salisu Ado (21).
He also stated that the deceased students’ colleague, Ibrahim, 21, was retrieved alive and is now being treated at Dambatta General Hospital, according to the PRO.
He explained that Sanusi and Salisu were retrieved unconscious and later died from their injuries.
The PRO highlighted that the service had launched an investigation into the incident’s cause.
