During nationwide operations on Wednesday, German police arrested eleven suspected members of Nigeria’s Black Axe crime syndicate.

All eleven suspects are claimed to be Nigerian citizens, but the majority of them have lived in Germany for many years. They are accused of running dating sites where victims are duped into marrying them.

According to authorities, the group collaborated with scammers who transmitted money to them in Nigeria as “financial agents.”.

According to the report, the crackdown on 19 properties was part of Germany’s efforts to combat large-scale dating scams and money laundering.

This current investigation comes two months after Thai authorities arrested two Nigerian men and a Thai lady in Phuket’s Thalang district for alleged involvement in a romance scam.

In addition to the arrests, authorities recovered 50 sachets of cocaine and a digital balance from the home.

Also, Europol reported that it arrested 16 people between December 7 and 9, 2023, in an international operation targeting Nigerian criminals responsible for crimes such as drug smuggling and distribution, trafficking in human beings for sexual exploitation, and money laundering in the EU and elsewhere.

According to the report, law enforcement officers from Europe, Africa, South America, and North America participated in the operation.
