Police deploy 30 motorcycles, operatives in rural FCT communities
Benneth Igweh, the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, has begun deploying motorbikes and troops to rural parts of the nation’s capital.
Josephine Adeh, the command’s spokesperson, told reporters that the decision was intended to enhance security response operations and police efforts against banditry.
She further stated that the deployment of motorcycles and staff began on Monday.
Adeh said, “You may recall that recently, the Minister, Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, donated 30 motorcycles to the command in his continued support and responsiveness to the security and safety of residents, which he believed should not be limited to the metropolis but be extended to remote and rural communities in the nation’s capital where bandits and kidnappers have recently turned to hideouts.
“The deployment of the motorcycles, painted in police colours, was made to aid swift operational response to communities and areas where vehicles may not easily assess or navigate when the need arises.”
While expressing profound gratitude to the Minister, Igweh committed to efficiently using the equipment to ensure the safety and security of FCT inhabitants.
He also asked locals to be careful and use the police emergency lines to report suspicious activities at 08032003913, 08028940883, 08061581938, and 07057337653. PCB: 09022222352, CRU: 08107314192.
