FCT residents loot NEMA warehouse over economic hardship

Residents looting food and household items

Some residents of the Federal Capital Territory looted a warehouse reportedly belonging to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) of Nigeria on Sunday over the current economic hardship across the country.

Chronicle NG learned that the NEMA warehouse is situated in the Phase 3 region of the FCT area of Abuja.

The spokesperson for the FCT command, Josephine Adeh, verified the incident in a text message, saying, “The situation is now under control.”

Recall that recently, Nigerians in Lagos protested against the soaring price of food and the high cost of living in the country.

In a similar vein, youths in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, hit the street on Monday to protest the skyrocketing price of food and the state of the economy.
