The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, has declared Wednesday, April 10, as Eid-el-Fitri day.

Professor Sambo Junaidu, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs to the Sultanate Council, signed a press release containing this information.

The statement confirmed that the council has acknowledged the report and officially designated Wednesday as the commencement of Shawwal 1445AH, as stated in a press release in Sokoto on Monday evening.

“His Eminence, the Sultan felicitates the Nigerian Muslim Ummah and wishes them Allah’s guidance and blessings.

“The Sultan, while urging the Muslim Ummah to continue to pray for peace, progress, and the development of the country, also wishes all Muslims a happy Eid-el-Fitri.”

Following the absence of the crescent moon on Monday evening, Chronicle NG earlier reported that Saudi Arabia had declared Wednesday, April 10, as Eid-el-Fitr.
