APC’s victory in 2023 presidential election unjustified–PDP
From Bamigbola Gbolagunte, Akure
National Vice Chairman (South West) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Kamorudeen Ajisafe has declared that the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 presidential election was not justified.
He said: “No one can justify how the All Progressives Congress was declared winner of the 2023 Presidential election with 33 per cent of total votes cast at the first ballot.
Ajisafe stated this while featuring on “The Frontliners”, a flagship panel discussion programme organised by the League of Veteran Journalists in Osun State.
The PDP chieftain, a legal practitioner, opined that “apart from the questionable legal interpretation of the electoral victory, a party with such unimpressive background like APC is not deserving of an extension of rulership at the national level.”
He remarked that, notwithstanding the challenges that faced the main opposition party before the election, majority of Nigerians are still repelled by the dismay performance of APC in eight years of the Buhari’s administration.
Responding to questions on the marketability of Atiku Abubakar as Nigeria’s President, Ajisafe said the loss of PDP Presidential bid wasn’t entirely on how marketable Atiku was, but the intrigues within and outside the PDP, which largely determined the outcome of the election.
He charged the governors of the South-West region to develop a unified, non-partisan focus to confront the security challenges facing the region.
