Ex Imo deputy gov,Irona joins Ihedioha, dumps PDP
From Stanley Uzoaru, Owerri
Former deputy governor of Imo State, Gerald Irona has joined his ex boss, Emeka Ihedioha in resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) .
Ihedioha took the party by surprise on Tuesday when he tendered his resignation , attributing inability of PDP to offer credible opposition to the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) among others.
His erstwhile deputy has also pulled other members of the executives in the State with him in quitting PDP.
Irona attributed his decision to quit the party to the “dissatisfaction with the current situation of things” in the PDP.
Details of his resignation letter to the ward chairman of Oguta council area reads : “I regret that the party has deviated significantly from the noble principles established by its founding fathers,” the letter reads.
Also accompanying him in the gale of defection is the former Speaker of the State Assembly , Lawman Duruji and the State organising secretary, Law Biaduo.
Others are , Paschal Uzor, vice-chairman Owerri zone and veteran Nollywood actor, Charles Awurum.
