#SexForGrades: Female students pray lecturers do not find them attractive
Nigerian students have bemoaned the prevalence of sexual assault against female students by lecturers at tertiary institutions in the country.
In a series of comments on X, they lamented the ordeals faced by female students in higher institutions.
They alleged that because lecturers see themselves as “gods,” female scholars pray their lecturers do not find them attractive.
Their comments came on the heels of viral video clips that showed Mr. Obinichi Nnorom sexually harassing a student in his office.
Chronicle NG reports that Nnorom, an alleged randy lecturer in the engineering department of the University of Port Harcourt, UNIPORT, was caught in a compromising position with a student.
Reacting to the video clip, King Dubie, in a statement on X, pointed out that “women in universities go through a lot already aside the normal school stress.
“Imagine being scared and praying no lecturer eventually finds you attractive because if they do, that’s where your problem starts.”
Another X user, Paul Noble, laments that “so many lecturers in the public universities are full of pride. They carry themselves as gods, abusing their students sexually and demanding bribes.”
In recent times, several lecturers have been arrested for sexual exploitation of their scholars.
Prof. Cyril Ndifon, the former dean of the faculty of law at the University of Calabar, UNICAL is facing prosecution for sexually molesting and abusing female students in the department.
