Nigerian Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that he would still have pursued a career in the entertainment industry even if his journey as a recording artist had not been successful.
The Grammy-nominated singer disclosed during a recent interview with PlayKisstra, where he reflected on his passion for entertainment, his educational background and the career path he believes he would have taken outside music.
According to Davido, his love for the entertainment industry goes beyond performing on stage, explaining that he has always been interested in the business side of music and media.
He said that if his ambitions as a singer had not materialised, he would most likely have established a record label or built a media company focused on discovering and developing creative talent.
“I’d probably be a label owner or have a media house because I’ve always loved entertainment,” he said.
The award-winning artist noted that his passion for music has never been limited to being in front of the microphone.
Instead, he explained that he enjoys the entire creative process, from discovering artists and producing music to building entertainment businesses that can shape the industry.
Davido added that even if he had chosen to work within his family’s business empire, he would still have maintained a strong connection to the music industry.
“Even if I was working in my daddy’s office, I can see myself having a side business like a music label just because I love music,” he stated.
Beyond entertainment, the singer also highlighted his academic qualifications, stressing that he possesses the educational background to pursue a conventional corporate career if the need ever arose.
Davido revealed that he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and believes he has the credentials to work in the corporate sector.
“I have a degree. I have a BSc in Business Management, so I can go to Barclays here and try to get a job,” he said.
“You know what I’m saying? I could get a job. I can actually get a job. I got a résumé.”
His comments have sparked conversations among fans, many of whom praised his confidence and entrepreneurial mindset.
