A Scottish entrepreneur has introduced what she believes is the United Kingdom’s first vending machine dedicated to baby essentials, offering parents a quick solution when they run out of important supplies while away from home.
The Busy Baby Vending machine, launched in Dundee, Scotland, is designed to provide emergency baby products to parents visiting the city’s Overgate shopping centre. The machine is located near the entrance of the baby changing facilities, making it easily accessible for families who need urgent supplies during shopping trips.
The vending machine stocks a range of everyday baby necessities, including individually packaged nappies, baby wipes, disposable bibs, baby snacks and ready-to-drink infant formula.
Founder Bianca Cockburn said the idea came from her own experiences as a mother after several occasions when she went out with her children and realised she had forgotten essential items.
She explained that the inconvenience of searching for baby supplies while already outside inspired her to explore a more accessible solution for parents. After researching the market, Cockburn discovered that there was no similar service operating in the UK and decided to turn the idea into a business.
She invested in a vending machine and partnered with Overgate shopping centre to launch the service, hoping to make parenting trips easier and less stressful.
According to Cockburn, the response from shoppers has been encouraging since the machine was introduced, with many parents welcoming the convenience of being able to purchase baby products quickly without leaving the shopping centre.
She said the positive feedback has strengthened her plans to expand the concept to more locations across the UK, making essential baby items available in more public spaces.
