Troops of Operation UDO KA have recovered two rifles and a cache of ammunition during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State, as part of ongoing operations against kidnapping gangs and armed groups operating along the Rivers–Imo border.
Security sources said the operation was carried out at about 3:00 a.m. on 23 July by troops of Sector 4, Operation UDO KA (34 Artillery Brigade), following actionable intelligence.
The troops reportedly stormed a forest camp at Awara Community Waterside along the Omoku–Ogbaku–Ndoni axis, where they recovered a Lee-Enfield Mk I rifle, a G3 rifle, 116 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition and 13 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
According to the sources, the weapons were concealed in a camp allegedly used by criminal elements involved in kidnapping and attacks on security personnel in the area.
Although no suspects were arrested during the operation, the recovered arms and ammunition have been taken into the custody of the 34 Artillery Brigade for further investigation.
Military sources said the latest recovery forms part of sustained intelligence-led operations launched after recent attacks on security forces in Ohaji/Egbema.
They added that it is the fourth major arms recovery recorded in the area within the past two weeks, with troops continuing offensive and clearance operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and restoring security in the affected communities.
