Team Nigeria has begun its campaign at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, with athletes set to compete across multiple sporting events as competition gets underway in Scotland.
The National Sports Commission unveiled the country’s contingent, highlighting the athletes representing Nigeria at this year’s Games.
In a statement, the commission said the athletes are carrying the hopes of the nation as they compete against some of the best talents from across the Commonwealth.

The commission wished Team Nigeria success throughout the competition and called on Nigerians to support the athletes as they strive for podium finishes in Glasgow.
Team Nigeria Unveils Squad for Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games
The National Sports Commission (NSC) has unveiled Team Nigeria’s official squad for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, with athletes set to compete across athletics, para powerlifting and wheelchair basketball.
The Games, which run from 23 July to 2 August, mark another opportunity for Nigeria to build on its rich Commonwealth Games pedigree.
Among the athletes named are world-record holder Tobi Amusan, Rosemary Chukwuma, Favour Onyah, Israel Okon, Ezekiel Nathaniel and Chidera Ezeakor in athletics.
Nigeria’s para powerlifting team includes Rita Ferdinand, Esther Nworgu, Alice Owolabi-Oluwafemisayo, Esther Oyema, Rilwan Idris, Ibrahim Dauda and Roland Ezuruike.
The country’s 3×3 women’s wheelchair basketball team comprises Titilayo Olaleye, Chituru Nwaozuzu, Gbemisola Jigbamigbe and Nofisat Adefala.
The National Sports Commission said Team Nigeria is ready to compete on the Commonwealth stage and urged Nigerians to rally behind the athletes as they begin their quest for medals in Glasgow.
