The African Action Alliance (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that the arrest of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi over the alleged operation of a fake government agency is an attempt to conceal the truth behind a reported N400 million bribery scandal.
In a post on his X account on Tuesday, Sowore claimed that Adeyemi’s arrest and the manner in which he was treated suggested what he described as “an official cover-up rather than a genuine search for the truth.”
According to him, President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, should also be investigated if the authorities are genuinely interested in uncovering the facts surrounding the allegations.
“By now, President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, should also be under arrest and investigation if the authorities are truly committed to uncovering the facts,” Sowore wrote.
He further alleged that the individual accused of collecting the purported N400 million bribe on behalf of Gbajabiamila had died under what he described as mysterious circumstances, while the hotel where the alleged transaction reportedly took place had since been demolished.
Sowore also accused the Federal Government of attempting to obstruct justice.
“In addition to the real crimes, we are now witnessing obstruction of justice by the Tinubu criminal regime,” he alleged.
According to an earlier report by Politics Nigeria, the Nigeria Police Force had earlier arrested Adeyemi in Osun State, hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja issued a bench warrant for his arrest.
The court ordered Adeyemi’s arrest after the self-acclaimed Director-General of the PFIPC failed to appear for arraignment on charges bordering on forgery, fraud and impersonation.
