Three officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) in Plateau, have secured the top three academic positions at the 34th Assistant Superintendent of Corrections (ASC) Basic Course (International).
The Public Relations Officer (PRO), of the command, Mr. Godfrey Longdiem disclosed this in a statement in Jos on Tuesday.
The six-month course, which held at the Correctional Service Staff College, Barnawa, Kaduna, had 283 participants from the NCoS and allied correctional institutions across Africa.
Mr. Longdiem stated that ASC Ishaya Zhakom emerged as the overall best in academics, finishing first among the participants.
Also, ASC Livinus Longkur placed second, while Vembe Jonathan came third, giving the Plateau Command an unprecedented sweep of the top academic honours.
The awards were presented by the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Maj.-Gen. Abdulmalik Jibril (Rtd.), who represented the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
Longdiem said the Controller of Corrections (CC), Plateau Command, Mr. Nimram Fadul described the achievement as a reflection of the service’s commitment to merit, professionalism, and excellence.
The PRO quoted the Controller as saying, “the feat also underscored the Nigerian Correctional Service’s investment in human capital development and the training of competent officers.”
Longdiem said the Controller congratulated the award recipients and urged them to uphold professionalism, discipline, and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
The Controller reaffirmed the command’s commitment to continuous capacity building, operational excellence, and the ongoing reform agenda of the Nigerian Correctional Service. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
