Pakistan is facing fresh challenges after Baloch separatist supporters claimed that Balochistan has introduced its own currency, called the ‘Balochi Faloos’. The claim comes after separatist groups earlier released a proposed national flag and anthem for what they describe as the “Republic of Balochistan.” These developments have gained attention on social media, although they have not been officially recognised.

Separatist Leader Makes Claims on Social Media

Mir Yar Baloch, who describes himself as a representative of Balochistan, claimed on social media platform X that the Republic of Balochistan now exists. According to him, the proposed administration has adopted its own national flag, national anthem titled “Ma Chukain Balochani,” and a new currency called “Balochi Faloos.”

Images of the symbolic currency have also gone viral online, with some featuring Baloch human rights activist Mahrang Baloch.

Has the New Currency Been Officially Launched?

Although social media posts claim that Balochistan now has its own currency, there is no official confirmation of these claims.

So far:

Pakistan has not recognised Balochistan as an independent country.
The United Nations has not recognised Balochistan as a sovereign nation.
No country has officially recognised the proposed Republic of Balochistan.

As a result, the Balochi Faloos has no legal status in international financial markets and no official exchange rate against the Indian Rupee or any other global currency.

Security Situation Remains Tense

The security situation in Balochistan continues to remain tense. Recently, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for an attack on a Pakistani military convoy in Mastung district, alleging that more than 45 soldiers were killed.

Pakistani authorities confirmed that the convoy was attacked but did not confirm the number of casualties.

Earlier, the BLA also claimed responsibility for a major attack on a Pakistan Coast Guards camp in Gwadar district.

Claims Remain Unverified

While separatist groups continue to make claims about new national symbols and a separate currency, none of these developments have received official or international recognition. The claims remain unverified, and there has been no confirmation from Pakistani authorities or international organisations regarding the existence of an independent Republic of Balochistan or its proposed currency.
