Oyo APC governorship candidate, Alli, redeems N25m pledge to victims of Bode market fire

THE governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Sen. Sharafadeen Alli, on Monday, redeemed his N25 million pledge to victims of the fire incident at Bode Market in Ibadan.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the herbs market in Molete, Ibadan South-West Local Government Area, was gutted by fire on July 3, with traders losing goods worth several millions of naira.

Alli, represented by Chief Shina Alabi, presented the cheque to the Iyaloja of Bode Market, Mrs Sikiratu Makinde, on Monday at the market in Ibadan.

Speaking at the event, Alabi said Sen. Alli remained committed to supporting small businesses and improving the livelihoods of traders across Oyo State.

He reaffirmed Alli’s commitment to grassroots economic development and traders’ welfare.

Alabi described the gesture as a demonstration of Alli’s sincerity, compassion and unwavering dedication to the welfare of ordinary citizens.

According to Alabi, the APC governorship candidate recognised the vital role market men and women play in sustaining the state’s economy.

He quoted Alli as saying “greater opportunities awaited traders under an APC-led administration”.

The presentation was witnessed by the APC Deputy National Auditor, Hon. Gbenga Olayemi, and Dr Tunji Olanipekun, who commended the traders for their support and confidence in the party.

Receiving the cheque on behalf of the traders, the Iyaloja of Bode Market, Mrs Sikiratu Makinde, expressed appreciation to Senator Alli for fulfilling his promise.

She described the gesture as timely and impactful, assuring the APC governorship candidate of the continued support and prayers of the traders.
