The prestigious recognition was bestowed on osuji in appreciation of his outstanding contributions to humanity, unwavering commitment to the nigerian institute of public relations, and his enduring role in advancing national development through professional excellence, ethical leadership, and strategic public relations practice.
During his tenure as a national council member with oversight responsibility for the south-east zone, osuji played a pivotal role in strengthening the institute’s activities across the region. He also coordinated strategic syndicate sessions at the nipr citizens summit, a landmark national engagement that attracted the participation of 93 partner organizations.
A fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and a member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osuji has built an impressive record of public service spanning professional practice, youth development, and institutional leadership.
He currently serves as a Council Member of the Nigerian Girls’ Guide association and previously served as the Imo State Scout Commissioner, where he championed the introduction of scouting and guiding into the state’s school system, an initiative widely acknowledged for helping to discourage cult-related activities among students.
As former Chairman of the Imo state chapter of NIPR, he successfully facilitated the acquisition of the institute’s prestigious state chapter image house during the administration of former Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha.
Osuji also made history as the pioneer Secretary of the NIPR South-East Forum. In that capacity, he coordinated the institute’s educational programmes across the region while simultaneously serving as a member of the NIPR international programmes committee.
His professional contributions extended beyond NIPR, having served as a resource fellow for Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) workshops in Imo State. Internationally, he participated actively in the planning and execution of the African Business Week held in Frankfurt, Germany, in 2014, where he contributed to promoting the NIPR on the global stage during the presidency of Dr. Oladele Rotimi.
He has equally participated in numerous national and international conferences, including the Second Pan-African Reading for All conference held in Abuja, among several other professional engagements.
The World Public Relations Day, celebrated annually on July 16, was established in 2021 as a global observance dedicated to recognizing the vital role of public relations and communication professionals in building trust, managing reputation, promoting ethical communication, and strengthening relationships between institutions and the public. The date also honours Ivy lee, widely regarded as one of the founding pioneers of modern public relations.
The theme for the 2026 celebration, “Golden age of strategic public relations,” Underscores the growing importance of strategic communication in shaping public perception and advancing sustainable development.
