President Bola Tinubu has directed the military, police, and intelligence agencies to hunt down those behind Monday’s deadly attack on Naridon Village in Kaduna State, where about 30 residents, including women and children, were killed.
The President’s order came after one of the bloodiest attacks recorded in southern Kaduna in recent months. Gunmen stormed Naridon Village in Kamaru Ward, Kauru Local Government Area, before dawn, killing residents and setting homes ablaze.
In a statement released on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said security agencies must move quickly to arrest those responsible, rescue victims believed to have been abducted, and restore calm to the community.
He said the attackers would not escape justice.
Warning that those seeking to plunge Kaduna back into violence would face the full weight of the law, the president said: “What happened in Naridon is a cruel assault on innocent people.”
The attack has again thrown the spotlight on southern Kaduna, a region that has endured repeated waves of killings, kidnappings, and destruction over the last decade. Communities in Kauru, Kaura, and Zangon Kataf have been among the worst affected despite several military operations launched over the years.
Governor Uba Sani’s administration has established that security has improved across much of Kaduna. Monday’s killings, however, have revived concerns that armed groups still retain the capacity to strike vulnerable rural settlements.
Tinubu offered condolences to the families of those killed, the Kaduna State Government and Governor Uba Sani. He said the Federal Government would continue investing in security operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks across the country.
He urged residents to work closely with security agencies by volunteering credible intelligence that could help prevent further attacks.
Security agencies has yet to announce any arrests as of Tuesday evening, while search operations continue in and around the affected communities.
