Iran-US war news: At least two US soldiers are confirmed killed, while one is reported missing as Iran unleashed a barrage of missile and drone strikes on a US military facility in Jordan on Saturday, with US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirming the deaths in a statement.
Two US soldiers killed in Iranian strikes
“On July 17, two U.S. service members in Jordan were killed in action as U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and partner forces defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks. Additionally, one service member is currently missing,” CENTCOM said in statetment.
According to CENTCOM, four American service members were medically evacuated to Jordanian hospitals, but have since been discharged, while other personnel who were evaluated for minor injuries have returned to duty.
However, CENTCOM refused to shared the identities of the killed soldiers until their families have been informed. “Out of respect for the families, CENTCOM will withhold additional information, including the identities of the fallen warriors, until 24 hours after the next of kin have been notified.”
Mojtaba Khamenei warns of ‘unforgettable lessons’ for US
The deaths of American troops comes as Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said the “Satan” United States seeks to incite war in the region, and vowed that Iran will teach “unforgettable lessons” to the “American enemy”.

“Now that the American enemy seeks to incite war and bear its most serious consequences, it should know that the dear Iranian nation and the axis of resistance have unforgettable lessons to offer it,” Khamenei said in a statement on X.
The 56-year-old Supreme Leader also termed US President Donald Trump’s signature on the US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the two countries last month as “worthless and invalid”.

IRGC threatens attacks on Gulf states hosting US military
According to Iranian media reports, at least 50 people have been killed, and more than 500 injured in the fresh wave of US military strikes this month, even as CENTCOM said early Saturday that its seventh straight night of strikes hit “surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage, and maritime capabilities”.
