Technology entrepreneur and founder of CHAMS Holding Company Plc, Demola Aladekomo, is set to chair the second edition of the QEDNG Creative Powerhouse Summit.
The summit, organised by Mighty Media Plus Network Limited, publishers of QEDNG, will hold on August 11 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos.
Themed “Creativity, Culture and Nigeria’s Next Chapter,” the event will bring together policymakers, business leaders, investors and creative professionals to discuss the future of Nigeria’s creative and cultural industries.
Publisher of QEDNG and convener of the summit, Olumide Iyanda, said Aladekomo’s track record as an entrepreneur and technology pioneer makes him the right choice to chair the event.
According to him, Aladekomo has spent decades building businesses, driving innovation and supporting institution building, adding that his experience will enrich discussions on the future of Nigeria’s creative economy.
“Sir Demola Aladekomo has spent decades building businesses, championing innovation and supporting institution building.
“His experience will add real value to the conversations we want to have about the future of Nigeria’s creative economy,” he said.
Speaking after accepting the invitation, Aladekomo described the summit’s theme as timely and commended QEDNG for creating a platform for meaningful conversations on the future of the country’s creative economy.
He said he looks forward to contributing to discussions that would produce practical ideas for the sector and expressed confidence that the second edition would build on the success of the inaugural summit held in 2025.
Aladekomo founded CHAMS in 1985 as Nigeria’s first indigenous computer maintenance company. During his leadership, the company introduced several innovations, including Nigeria’s first wide area network on personal computers.
He also played a key role in the development of Nigeria’s electronic payment system through the pioneering Valucard project and led initiatives in identity management and digital infrastructure.
After retiring as Group Managing Director of CHAMS in 2015, Aladekomo became Chairman of the company’s board in 2020. He also serves as Chairman of SmartCity PLC, where he continues to promote technology-driven development and innovation.
Like the inaugural chairman of the summit, Ufot Ekong, Aladekomo is a former president of the Lagos Business School Alumni Association.
Ufot, who chaired the maiden edition of the summit in 2025, led the association from 2010 to 2012, while Aladekomo served as president from 2012 to 2014.
This year’s summit will explore how policy, institutional support and private investment can drive the growth of Nigeria’s creative economy across music, film and television, fashion and design, gaming, arts, publishing, literature, content creation and technology innovation.
The inaugural edition brought together key stakeholders from government, business, finance and the creative industries to examine financing as a catalyst for a thriving creative economy.
