Nigerian afrobeats singer and Grammy award winner, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has set a new record as he became the first Nigerian artist to perform during a FIFA World Cup final halftime show.
Burna Boy would on Sunday affirm his spot as a global superstar with his performance at the end of the first 45 minutes of play between the 2026 FIFA World Cup finalists, Argentina and Spain.
The singer appeared on the pitch to join renowned singer, Shakira, in performing the World Cup’s official theme song Dai Dai.
Burna Boy’s performance which marked his second appearance at the world after the opening game, thrilled fans hailed the moment as another milestone for Afrobeats on the global stage.
