Benue State Commissioner of Police, Cletus Nwadiogbu, has urged residents of communities affected by terrorist attacks to remain vigilant and take lawful measures to protect themselves while immediately alerting security agencies during emergencies.
Speaking during an interview on AIT News on Wednesday, 22 July, 2026, while leading a joint security operation in the terrorist frontline in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, Nwadiogbu said security personnel cannot be everywhere at the same time, making it important for residents to stay alert and promptly notify security agencies whenever they observe suspicious movements or attacks.
Encouraging community members to be vigilant, the commissioner said, “If it’s machete you have, sharpen your machete. If it’s walking stick you have, put it well. If it’s catapult, hold it well. Defend yourself as you are alerting us to come.”
