Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) officially kicked off its 11th season on Sunday night with the unveiling of 24 housemates who will compete for the grand prize of N160 million.
Hosted by media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the opening live show introduced contestants from different parts of Nigeria and beyond, each bringing unique personalities, backgrounds and aspirations into the iconic BBNaija House.
Colourful stage performances, vibrant displays and the much-anticipated unveiling of the housemates marked the launch, which was watched by millions of viewers across Africa.
Over the coming weeks, contestants will participate in tasks, games and challenges designed to test their creativity, resilience, teamwork and entertainment value.
Housemates will also navigate relationships, strategic gameplay and weekly nominations, while viewers determine their fate through periodic voting.
This year’s edition, themed “Show Ya Sef,” is expected to deliver the drama, entertainment and competition that have made the reality show one of Africa’s most-watched television programmes.
Since its debut in 2006 and relaunch in 2017, BBNaija has remained a major platform for discovering entertainment talents, with many former housemates building successful careers in acting, music, media, entrepreneurship and influencing.
Beyond entertainment, the reality show continues to contribute to Nigeria’s creative economy through content production, employment generation, brand partnerships and audience engagement.
The opening night also generated widespread reactions across television and social media as fans shared their first impressions of the new housemates.
