Proceedings in the high-profile murder trial of former Park Management System (PMS) disciplinary committee chairman, Mukaila Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary, suffered another setback on Thursday as the Oyo State High Court adjourned the case to July 15, 2026.
The court, sitting in Ibadan, was forced to halt proceedings after the prosecution failed to file essential court documents required to advance the hearing — a development that has raised fresh concerns over delays in the administration of justice in the case.
Auxiliary is currently standing trial over the alleged killing of Wonuola Ayinde. The prosecution claims Ayinde was fatally struck by a vehicle driven by the defendant on September 23, 2023, at GRA, Agodi, Ibadan.
Due to the prosecution’s failure, the court could not proceed with the adoption of final written addresses, effectively stalling what is expected to be a decisive stage in the trial.
While the prosecution insists it is pressing ahead with the case, Auxiliary has continued to maintain his innocence, denying any culpability in the incident.
The latest adjournment adds to a growing pattern of delays in the matter, leaving observers questioning the pace of proceedings in one of Oyo State’s most closely watched criminal trials.
