THE Nigeria Army has urged members of 2026 Nigerian Military School (NMS) passing-out set to uphold discipline, integrity and lifelong learning as they prepare for life beyond secondary school.
Maj.-Gen. Ahmadu-Bello Mohammed, disclosed this at the 2026 Nigerian Military School (NMS) Speech and Prize-Giving ceremony in Zaria on Saturday.
Mohammed, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the event said the values the graduating boys acquired during their years of training would remain their greatest assets as they pursue higher education, military service and other professional careers.
He advised the graduating boys to embrace change with confidence and determination, stressing that the transition from secondary school presents fresh opportunities and responsibilities that require courage and resilience.
According to him, some of the graduating students will proceed to tertiary institutions, while others may pursue military or civilian careers, adding that discipline, consistency, sound character and integrity will ultimately determine the level of success they attain.
The senior military officer urged the graduands to cultivate a culture of lifelong learning, observing that technological advancement and evolving global realities demand adaptability, innovation and continuous self-development to remain relevant and competitive in any chosen profession.
He explained that knowledge and skills acquired today could become outdated tomorrow, urging the students to remain curious, embrace innovation and continually improve themselves to meet emerging challenges and seize future opportunities with confidence.
Mohammed also encouraged the passing-out boys to build strong relationships with their families, mentors, friends and colleagues, stressing that enduring success is rarely achieved in isolation but through collaboration, mutual support and shared aspirations.
He urged the graduands to remain steadfast in the face of challenges, describing setbacks as opportunities for growth rather than barriers to achievement, while encouraging them to draw strength from the discipline and leadership values instilled by the school.

Mohammed described the honours as recognition of diligence, resilience and commitment to excellence, while encouraging those without awards to remain focused, improve themselves and strive for greater accomplishments.
Similarly, Brig.-Gen. E.N. Ejiga, Commandant of the school, said the event celebrated excellence, discipline, leadership, marking completion of training and preparing cadets for future careers journeys.
According to him, the event reinforced discipline, integrity, resilience and lifelong learning, while awards motivated cadets toward higher performance.
He appreciated instructors, staff, parents and stakeholders for sustaining excellence and leadership.
Earlier, Mr Mobolaji Adewumi, Managing Director Abby Mortgage Bank Plc, urged the graduating boys to make use of the leadership opportunities the NMS offered them.
The managing director who presented a paper titled “leveraging the learning environment in NMS as a pathway for achieving future aspiration”, urged the graduating boys to be humble, strategic in thinking and actions while building a stronger relationship with the colleagues.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the ceremony featured the presentation of prizes and awards to outstanding students in recognition of their academic performance, leadership qualities and exemplary conduct during the 2025/2026 academic session. (NAN)
