The Federal Capital Territory High Court has remanded two siblings and a third defendant at the Suleja Correctional Centre over the alleged murder of their father, Adimike Godwin, in Abuja.
The defendants—Adimike Anthony, Adimike Stephany and Comfort Ajibade—were arraigned by the FCT Police Command on charges of criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide and offences under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.
The court adjourned the case until September 30, 2026, after ordering that the three defendants remain in custody pending further proceedings.
According to the FCT Police Command, the case began on May 15, 2026, after officers responded to a distress call from a relative who reported being unable to reach the deceased.
Police said detectives found Godwin unconscious in his room with multiple stab wounds. He was rushed to Karu General Hospital, where doctors confirmed him dead.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, said the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, directed a full investigation, which initially led to the arrest of five suspects, including the deceased’s driver and gateman.
She said investigations later established a case against Anthony, Stephany and Ajibade, who were subsequently charged before the court.
The police said Anthony faces an additional charge of entering into a same-sex civil union, while Stephany and Ajibade were jointly charged under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.
The FCT Police Command said it remains committed to ensuring justice while respecting the constitutional rights of all parties involved in the case.
