Nine National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members in Anambra State will be repeating their service year after absconding from the mandatory programme.
The NYSC Coordinator in Anambra, Mrs Pauline Ojisua, disclosed this while presenting Certificates of National Service, CNS, to successful corps members at the Ihiala Local Government Council Secretariat on Thursday.
Ojisua explained that two corps members had their service extended on disciplinary grounds, while five others were retained by their respective employers.
She also revealed that 933 corps members from the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream I were formally discharged from the scheme after successfully completing their one-year mandatory national service.
The certificate presentation ceremony held simultaneously across the state’s 21 Local Government Areas.
Ojisua congratulated the outgoing corps members on completing their service year and urged them to remain worthy ambassadors of the NYSC scheme and of Nigeria.
She encouraged them to embrace self-reliance by putting into practice the entrepreneurial and vocational skills they gained through the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, SAED, programme, rather than waiting indefinitely for white-collar jobs.
The Coordinator further urged them to stay productive by engaging in meaningful ventures that can create sustainable livelihoods and contribute to national development.
She advised them to join the NYSC Foundation in order to sustain their relationship with the scheme and continue supporting its objectives, and wished them a safe journey and God’s protection as they returned to their various destinations to begin a new phase of their lives.
