Iran war: US President Donald Trump on Wednesday signalled at a potential escalation in the conflict with Iran amid the ongoing negotiations between the two countries, stating that the United States is going to attack Iran “very hard” if a peace deal is not finalized soon.
“We’re going to be attacking them, attacking them very hard,” Trump told reporters at the White House, citing Iran’s downing of an Apache helicopter in the Strait of Hormuz.
Asked about the status of a potential US-Iran peace deal, Trump said the US wants a deal “that works”, and threatened that Iran will be hit on Wednesday. “We want a deal that is meaningful, we want a deal that works,” Trump said.
He claimed that while Iran has already agreed to not to pursue nuclear weapon, an agreement still needs to be signed to make it legally binding and official.
