A resident of Ekiti State has sparked a massive wave of reactions online after releasing a video showing food items allegedly distributed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the state’s governorship election.
The individual captured the short video clip to display two small sachets of tomato paste and four single packs of instant noodles, which he claimed were given to him as a political inducement.
According to the viral footage, which appears to have been recorded in a rural part of the state, the items were shared during a campaign mobilization drive for the reelection bid of the state governor, Abiodun Oyebanji.
The political atmosphere in the state has grown increasingly intense as citizens prepare for the June 20, 2026, off-cycle gubernatorial poll.
Governor Oyebanji, who is flying the flag of the ruling APC to retain his seat following his first victory in 2022, is heavily favored to win.
However, he faces stiff competition from 12 other political opponents, including Dr. Wole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The online emergence of the video has drawn a mixture of heavy criticism and mockery from members of the public. While many internet users expressed deep anger over what they termed an exploitation of widespread poverty, others resorted to sarcasm, describing the food packages as a “campaign menu for four years.”
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has consistently maintained its strict stance against financial and material inducements at polling zones, urging the public to immediately report any infractions to security agencies.
At the time of filing this report, the official campaign organization for Governor Oyebanji has not issued a statement regarding the allegations, even as voters prepare to head to the polls.
