Venezuela Earthquake: A powerful 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit Venezuela on Wednesday evening. Terrifying videos shared on social media showed buildings collapsing, power starting to flicker, and streets turning into chaos as people flee for their lives. Another massive earthquake of 7.5 magnitude also hit the capital, Caracas, thirty-nine seconds apart.
At least 32 people have been killed so far, and over 700 have sustained injuries, Venezuela’s interim president, Delcy Rodriguez, said. Videos circulating online paint a horrific picture of the disaster. “The stairs came away, the whole wall cracked. Things fell from the ceiling. It was horrible,” a bank employee, Odalis Escalona, in Caracas, told AFP.
