Venezuelans searched for survivors beneath collapsed buildings on Thursday (June 25, 2026) and rescue teams raced to northern areas rocked by a pair of powerful earthquakes that officials say killed around 235 people and left at least 4,300 people injured.

Thousands were reported missing and buildings were evacuated as far away as Brazil’s Amazon. Rescue efforts moved slowly, with bodies still visible under debris hours after the quakes, while time ran out for some of those who were trapped and injured.
Offers of rescue support, aid and condolences poured into Venezuela.
