President Bola Tinubu has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for what he described as outstanding performance and a strong commitment to delivering critical infrastructure projects across Abuja.
The President stated that he appointed Wike based on his proven record of performance and expressed satisfaction that the former Rivers State governor had lived up to expectations since assuming office as FCT Minister.
Tinubu made the remarks on Thursday during the commissioning of the Collector Road CN2, officially named Emmanuel Ogala Boulevard, which stretches from Arterial Road N16 (Yemi Osinbajo Way) to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Way), including ILS.5 within the Katampe District of the Federal Capital Territory.
The event formed part of activities marking the third anniversary of the Tinubu administration.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the President said Wike had consistently demonstrated his capacity to deliver projects and improve infrastructure within the nation’s capital.
“When I gave him the responsibility as Minister of the FCT, I knew his track records and Wike, you have not disappointed Nigerians,” Tinubu said.
“From roads to water projects to judicial quarters, you work day and night. You do not give excuses; you give results. The people of the FCT call you ‘Mr Project’ for a reason. Well done.”
The President noted that the newly commissioned road project was evidence of the administration’s commitment to its Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said was gradually transforming the country despite the economic challenges inherited at the start of his tenure.
According to him, his administration assumed office at a time when Nigeria’s economy faced significant difficulties, but efforts by the government were beginning to yield visible improvements across various sectors.
“Indeed, this road is a testimony to the Renewed Hope Agenda. Nigeria is working again. The economy we met was gloomy, but today you see transformation,” he said.
Tinubu emphasised that infrastructure development remains a key component of his administration’s strategy to stimulate economic growth, improve connectivity and enhance the quality of life for citizens.
He further described the road project as more than a transportation facility, saying it symbolises progress and renewed confidence in governance.
“A road like CN2 is more than concrete; it is hope. It tells every Nigerian that government can deliver. It tells our youths that this country belongs to them,” the President added.
The commissioning of the Emmanuel Ogala Boulevard is one of several infrastructure projects undertaken by the FCT Administration in recent months as part of efforts to modernise Abuja and improve access to emerging districts within the capital city.
The road is expected to ease traffic congestion, improve connectivity between key parts of the city and support ongoing residential and commercial development within the Katampe District.
The event was attended by senior government officials, lawmakers, traditional rulers and other stakeholders who praised the administration’s efforts to expand infrastructure and accelerate development in the Federal Capital Territory.
