Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, has issued a strong warning to politicians he alleges are secretly sponsoring kidn@ppers operating in Oyo State, threatening to publicly name them if the criminal activities do not cease.
Igboho made the declaration while hosting the newly elected executives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), led by Akinteye Bàbàtunde, at his residence in the Soka area of Ibadan on Wednesday. A video of his address has since gone viral on social media.
The activist claimed he had volunteered to personally intervene in the rescue of students abd¥cted in Oriire Local Government Area, but alleged that the Oyo State Government blocked his efforts.
He stated that he has inside knowledge of the politicians allegedly funding and arming the kidn@ppers, and warned that he would not hesitate to expose them publicly if the att@cks continue.
Igboho also made broader political allegations, drawing a parallel between the current security situation and what he described as deliberate efforts to make the country ungovernable for President Bola Tinubu, similar to what he claimed was done to former President Goodluck Jonathan.
He alleged that some individuals are actively working to destabilise the Tinubu administration through sponsored insecurity and coordinated fake news campaigns designed to turn public opinion against the president.
On the Oyo State abd¥ction incident specifically, Igboho said he offered to deploy his men into the forests to flush out the kidn@ppers, but was warned by those handling the situation that the abd¥ctors had threatened to k+ll the students if he attempted to intervene by force.
He expressed confidence that his team could effectively clear criminal elements from the forests in the region if given the opportunity to do so.
The activist also revealed that despite receiving federal government approval for his proposed security outfit, the “Iru Ekun Security Network,” the Oyo State Government refused to allow the outfit to operate within the state, a development he described as a significant obstacle to community-driven security efforts in the region.
