Social Democratic Party (SDP) says it has resolved its leadership crisis and is repositioning itself for the 2027 general elections.
The party’s National Chairman, Sadiq Gombe, stated this while addressing newsmen in Abuja on Monday.
Gombe said that the party had overcome internal disputes and secured recognition of its leadership structure.
He said thatvSDP was now focused on strengthening its organisation and addressing Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges.
“The period of distraction is over. Our focus now is on building a stronger party,” he said.
Gombe said that the party successfully conducted its national convention in Bauchi which produced Adewole Adebayo as the presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
He said that the convention demonstrated the party’s preparedness for future electoral contests.
The national chairman said that the party would focus on education, healthcare, security, infrastructure, food security and youth empowerment if it wins the 2027 presidential election.
According to him, Nigerians are seeking practical solutions to the country’s challenges, expressing the confidence that SDP would attract citizens seeking an alternative political platform.
Gombe called on party members to embrace reconciliation and unity, stressing that these were essential to achieving the party’s electoral objectives.
He commended the judiciary, INEC, the media and Adebayo for their support during the crisis, urging members to remain committed to democratic values and nation-building.
“SDP is entering a new chapter. We are united, focused and determined,” he said.(NAN)
