Protesters have stormed the Oyo State Secretariat, defying the early morning rain as they pressed home their demand for the release of the abducted teachers and students in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
NPO earlier Reported that aggrieved residents had on Monday morning taken to the streets of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, to demand urgent action from the government over the students and teachers abducted last month in Ahoro-Esinele Community High School, Yawota Baptist Nursery School, and LA Primary School.
The demonstration follows an earlier protest by teachers in Ogbomoso, where the kidnapping incident occurred.
The teachers had called on authorities to intensify efforts to secure the release of the victims and improve security across the state.
Amid the protest, a heavy downpour began with the protesters expected to disperse and seek shelter.
They however continued with the demonstration till they arrived at the Oyo State Secretariat.
Video shared on X showed the protesters challenging police officers and other security operatives deployed around the premises.
Another clip showed the protesters gyrating in front of the secretariat as they demanded release of the abducted children and teachers.
