The Anambra State Police Command has taken a landlord into custody for questioning in connection with the suspected killing of a 23-year-old nursing student in Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area.
According to a statement by police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu has ordered an accelerated investigation into the case, which has since been transferred from the Nnobi Divisional Police Headquarters to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for a more thorough and discreet probe.
The victim’s body was discovered on June 14, 2026, within the compound where she lived as a tenant. Officers who responded to the scene observed a deep cut on her thigh, along with other signs of violence and bloodstains, raising strong suspicions of foul play.
She was subsequently identified as a student of the College of Nursing Sciences, Alor.
Ikenga said the landlord of the property has been detained and is currently being questioned as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding her death. Her body has been deposited in a mortuary pending an autopsy.
CP Orutugu has directed investigators to carry out a thorough and professional inquiry, stressing that no effort should be spared in identifying and prosecuting whoever is found responsible.
