The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Abimbola Olugbenga has visited the kidnappers’ hideout in Lakoun, along the Ayegun-Olojuoro Road axis of Ibadan, where the sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons were held captive.
NPO reports that the visit came some hours after the successful rescue of Mrs. Olaide Busayo John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, who were abducted by armed gunmen while on their way to school in Ibadan on June 3.
A video clip showed the police commissioner inspecting the den used by the kidnappers to hold their victims during captivity.
NPO Reports recalls that the Oyo Police Command had earlier launched a manhunt for the abductors, deploying tactical teams and intelligence assets to track their movements.
Meanwhile, in the early hours of Saturday, the Oyo Police Command spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka announced the successful rescue of Olaide and her sons.
Ayanlade also confirmed that two kidnap suspects were neutralised during the operation.
“During the confrontation, two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded and two rifles were recovered. The victims were rescued unharmed and are now in safe custody, receiving medical care and support.” He added.
Following the rescue operation, Olaide and her sons were taken to Adelabu’s residence where they reunited with the ex-minister.
