The incumbent governor and candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Biodun Oyebanji, has been announced as the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State by the electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The declaration was made early Sunday morning by the commission’s Chief Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Professor Adenike Oladiji.
According to her, Oyebanji was re-elected after polling 319,224 votes to defeat the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dr Wole Oluyede, who came a distant second with 40,543 votes, and Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who garnered 12,872 votes.

She added that the governor also won in all 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the South-Western state.
While declaring him the winner of the gubernatorial polls, she said: “I, Prof. Adenike Oladiji, hereby certify that I am the Returning Officer for the Ekiti State governorship election held on June 20, 2026.
“That Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”
