The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Osun has pledged to prioritise the welfare of residents if voted into power in the Aug. 15 governorship election.

The party’s Chairman in the state, Alhaji Adesiji Azeez, made the pledge while featuring on the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun Council guest programme, “Setting the Agenda”.

Azeez said the party’s governorship candidate, Najeem Salaam, would provide funds for women’s empowerment to support their businesses.

He added that the candidate would also award bursaries to indigenes of the state in tertiary institutions.

According to him, the ADC candidate will strengthen security of lives and property by engaging local vigilantes and deploying security cameras across the state.

He said the party would also procure Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to further enhance the state’s security architecture.

Azeez described the ADC as a violence-free party, stressing that it would not engage in political violence before, during or after the election.

“Violence is completely alien to us,” he said.

He, however, expressed confidence that the ADC would surpass expectations and emerge victorious in the electio.(NAN)
