The leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has intensified efforts to resolve internal issues in Kano State following a high-level meeting between the national leadership of the Kwankwasiya Movement and the party’s National Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.
According to Osa Director Esq, National Publicity Secretary of the NDC, the meeting, which took place on Monday night, was aimed at addressing concerns between members of the Kwankwasiya Movement and legacy officials of the party in Kano State.
Director said the closed-door engagement formed part of the party’s broader commitment to fostering unity, reconciliation and inclusiveness as it continues to consolidate its structures across the country.
He explained that Senator Dickson and members of the NDC national leadership are actively mediating in the matter to ensure that all stakeholders are fairly represented and that no group feels excluded from the affairs of the party.
According to him, the NDC remains committed to building a political platform founded on consultation, participation and democratic values.
”The NDC leadership will not impose candidates in Kano State or indeed anywhere in the country. Our commitment is to uphold the principles of internal democracy and provide a level playing field for all party members,” he stated.
Director noted that the discussions lasted several hours and were productive, with participants expressing optimism that the issues would be resolved amicably in the interest of party unity and progress.
He added that the meeting provided an opportunity for frank and constructive dialogue among stakeholders and reinforced the party’s determination to strengthen cohesion ahead of future political activities.
The NDC spokesman also dismissed reports claiming that the party had released results of its primary elections in some states.
He clarified that no official results of any primary election had been released by the party and urged members and the general public to disregard any list circulating on social media or other platforms.
”The party has not announced primary election results in any state. Any such publication should be disregarded as it did not emanate from the authorised channels of the NDC,” Director said.
