Poland make for a challenging but beatable opponent. Michał Probierz’s side failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, losing to Sweden in the Path B playoff, and come into tonight’s game having lost to Ukraine on Sunday. They have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last five matches, conceding at least two goals in three of those outings.
The tie’s biggest subplot surrounds Robert Lewandowski. The Poland captain, the all-time leading scorer in his country’s history, is one goal away from reaching 90 international goals and will be desperate to hit that milestone on home soil tonight.
Nigeria are without Victor Osimhen, who is working through his future at Galatasaray, while Ademola Lookman has been excused following accumulated fatigue at Atletico Madrid. Femi Azeez, the standout player of the Unity Cup, is also unavailable after Millwall declined to release him for the June fixtures. However, Wilfred Ndidi, Maduka Okoye, Alex Iwobi and Moses Simon all return to the fold after missing the London tournament.
The two nations have met only once before — a 1–0 Nigeria win in March 2018, settled by a Victor Moses penalty.
