Lagos lawmaker commiserates with Oshodi flood victims, seeks lasting drainage solution

MR Stephen Ogundipe, a member, Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday sympathised with residents of Sogunle and Mafoluku areas of Oshodi in the state over the devastating floods in the areas.

Ogundipe, in a statement made available to newsmen in Lagos, described the destruction, displacement and emotional trauma caused the problem as heartbreaking .

He prayed for strength and comfort for the affected families.

The lawmaker said he had consistently engaged relevant government agencies through petitions and advocacy over the perennial flooding in the affected areas.

He assured residents he would sustain pressure until permanent flood control measures and improved drainage infrastructure are delivered.

The lawmaker urged residents to cooperate with government in efforts to find solutions to the problem.

He said: “Strict environmental regulations and urban renewal policies may become necessary to protect lives, properties and prevent recurring flooding across Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I.”

Ogundipe reaffirmed his commitment to prioritising constituents’ welfare through continuous advocacy for sustainable environmental management.

He also prayed for divine protection against occurrence of   further disasters in the affected communities and beyond.
