The Kano State Fire Service says it has saved 34 people and property worth N437 million from 58 incidents recorded across the state’s 44 Local Government Areas in May.
The Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Kano.
He said 13 people lost their lives to fire outbreaks, road accidents, and incidents involving ponds and wells during the period, while property worth N144 million was destroyed by fire.
“The service responded to 15 emergency calls and seven false alarms from residents,” Anas said.
The director urged the public to adopt proper fire safety measures and handle fire-related activities responsibly to reduce the occurrence of fire disasters across the state.
Anas said the service remained committed to protecting lives and property through prompt emergency response, public awareness, and preventive safety measures. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
