Dalton Eatherly, the controversial social media personality known online as “Chud the Builder,” will remain in jail after a Davidson County judge revoked his bond on Wednesday.
Chud the Builder appeared in court on misdemeanor charges stemming from an incident at a restaurant inside the Omni Hotel in downtown Nashville. Officials said he refused to stop streaming inside the establishment and later refused to pay his bill. Prosecutors reportedly spent much of the proceeding on a separate Montgomery County case, where Chud the Builder faces an attempted murder charge connected to a shooting outside the Montgomery County Courthouse.
Prosecutors presented videos and social media posts to the judge that they said were made before the shooting. Authorities described the material as violent and racist while arguing it raised concerns about his behavior.
“It sounds premeditative, like he’s going to kill somebody,” Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Detective Michael Weber testified.
Defense attorney Jacob Fendley said the court should also consider threats Chud the Builder has received online.
“Mr. Eatherly has made complaints about people making threats to him,” Fendley said, adding that some alleged threats involved the online personality’s infant son.
The judge sided with prosecutors and revoked bond in the Davidson County case.
Fendley has filed a motion to dismiss the Nashville charges.
Chud the Builder’s next Davidson County court date is set for June 25.
